I was inspired to do this course after working on a project that was animated in Flash/AnimateCC. Unfortunately, the board artists drew the boards on paper, instead of natively in Flash/AnimateCC. This was a major factor in the failure of the production. If the board artists had known the procedures demonstrated in this course, things might have turned out differently.
So: this course is aimed at people who don’t know much about Flash/AnimateCC, but who want to create storyboards for a Flash/AnimateCC production. You don’t need any prior knowledge of the software to get started.
In a previous course on traditional storyboarding I created a story called ‘Bumstead vs. the Martians’; a simple outline in which the hero starts out as a Ned Flanders type, and ends up (or arcs) into Bruce Willis in ‘Die Hard’. You can find that course at Lynda or Linkedin-learning.
The AnimateCC boarding course is here:
LYNDA: Animate CC storyboarding
LINKEDIN: Animate CC storyboarding
The course shows you how to create your boards in nested symbols, which can later be used in the production by assemblers and animators. Character scenes can be assembled in simple form, allowing the boards to include basic animation moves.
Color can be added if desired, converting the boards/animatic to be much closer to the final state.
This nested approach allows the board artist the rare opportunity to work faster, better AND cheaper.
